Provider Credentialing & Enrollment Services

What Is Provider Credentialing?

Provider credentialing is the essential process that enables healthcare providers to become recognized and reimbursed by insurance companies. Through this process, insurers verify and validate a provider’s qualifications, education, and legal authorization to practice. Only trusted and vetted professionals are enrolled into payer networks to deliver care to patients.

Also referred to as primary source verification, credentialing is time-consuming and highly detailed. Insurance payers review the provider’s background, licenses, malpractice history, board certifications, and more to ensure compliance and credibility.

What Is Contracting?

After successful credentialing, the next step is payer contracting. This involves connecting the provider to the insurance network through a formal participation agreement. These contracts outline standard reimbursement rates and participation details across various plans such as:

  • HMO (Health Maintenance Organization)
  • PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)
  • Workers’ Compensation (WC)
  • Auto Insurance Networks

The complete credentialing and contracting process typically takes 60–90 business days.
